Liga MB Round 9: No surprise as #1 Aguila defeat Chalchuapa- October 3, 2022

Aguila - Chalchuapa 100-67 Liga MB top team - Aguila (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Chalchuapa (0-10) in San Miguel 100-67. Aguila dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 26. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 57-24 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Aguila looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. American forward Brenden Van Dyke (203-1998, college: Emporia St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 21 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Aguila's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward David Daniels (196-1998, college: Spring Hill) with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Ameer Biddle (193, college: PS Wilkes Barre) scored 28 points. Aguila have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. At the other side the best for losing team was Joshua Quincy who recorded 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Amilcar Rodriguez added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) nailed 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American point guard Marquise Mosley (175-1997, college: Biola, CA) accounted for 24 points and 7 assists. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Dominican Ezequiel Perez (201) came up with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American forward Christopher Blake (195-1988, college: Detroit) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Santa Tecla in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Aguila. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Santa Tecla at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost.
